Project Summary:

November 6, 2000, Californians get the results in real-time thanks to a new Java technology-based system that tabulates ballot results and makes them easily accessible by any computer connected to the Internet. The system relies on three applications that coordinate data from all the state’s 58 counties. This system provides secure transmission of voting results, validates and error-checks the numbers, stores the data in the Secretary of State’s official database, and publishes the results to the web within minutes of the polls closing on election night. The results are updated on the website in real time, as all the precincts come in and the final outcome is tabulated.

Scope of Duties:

Mr. Knutson was the technical liaison to the entire Cal Voter II Team. Mr. Knutson assisted with the design and development of security and encryption Java beans, training, mentoring, WebServer installation, and JavaHelp integration. Mr. Knutson also performed refactoring on common framework components and API’s.
